Shunned

I shun the light, too much does it show
I long for the darkness around me
Imagining that it will protect me
Dreaming it will embrace me
Never allowing it to overtake me
Slowly the pitch black possesses me
Cunning and wicked but some how beautiful and beckoning
A hold that seems comforting slowly becomes more painful and brash
It's hard to breathe I can't find myself
Listening, silent, feeling, searching
Going over the seduction in my mind.
Fears were misplaced
I was confused, but now I see
I shun the dark...
Too much does it hide.
I long for the light around me
Imagining it will protect me
Dreaming it will free me.
